If you’re shipping chocolates to areas with warm weather, Chilmark Chocolates might suggest a particular shipping method to ensure that your product arrives in perfect condition and to prevent it from melting. This is because chocolates are highly perishable.

Orders placed before 11:00 AM are likely to ship on the same day. However, it’s important to note that weekends and holidays are not considered days in transit. As temperatures may differ across the country, we may decide not to ship on Fridays. Therefore, we cannot ensure deliveries on Mondays.

Despite being often confused with mold, the white film that appears on chocolate is a harmless substance called bloom. Bloom is caused by the butterfat in the chocolate rising to the surface due to a temperature change. Although the chocolate’s appearance may be affected, it remains safe to eat and retains its flavor. To prevent bloom, it’s essential to avoid exposing chocolate to sudden temperature changes.

Storing chocolate in a cool and dry place is recommended for best results. However, freezing chocolate is not advisable, as it can result in the chocolate turning white due to temperature shock.
